I’ve been doing the same exercises for the past 12 years.
The principles have remained the same, but my methods did change—especially through and after pregnancy, injuries, and surgeries.😅
Your body adapts, and you learn new ways to move.
If you’re a beginner, less is more when it comes to exercises. You don’t need advanced movements more importantly you need consistency and practice.🙌
While variation has its place, lifting weights is a skill.
Sticking to the same lifts or program for 4–8 weeks helps you:
* Improve movement patterns as repetitions increase,
allowing your nervous system to become more efficient at
recruiting the right muscles.
* Refine your technique and get more effective muscle.
engagement.
* Avoid slowing progress—too much variation, especially
changing exercises every session, can hold you back.
* Build your training around these key movement patterns:
Squat, Hinge, Press and Pull
We all like variety, and there are a lot of “optimal” exercises trending that people chase. But there isn’t one optimal exercise—just many effective ones.💪🏻
Stick to a plan, focus on doing the basic movements well, progressively overload, and stay consistent.
Keep it simple—and always come back to the basics.
That’s where we all start.☺️💪🏻
